Cynthia Rowland graduated with a degree in Fine Arts from the College of Arts and Sciences, Texas Tech University.
After briefly slipping her toes into the warm waters of Hawaii she was off to an exhilarating and jangling dozen years in the belly of the beast, New York, developing her own graphic design and advertising art business.
In 1993 Cynthia returned to New Mexico to pursue sculpture in the medium of cast bronze. This developed into major public and commissioned artwork projects with her partner Mark, and by the close of 2005 had completed about 40 projects, including several large-scale commissions and competitions.
For the past five years, however, Cynthia’s consuming focus has been in oil painting and the ever-evolving art of the noble still-life. She has studied with David Leffel and for the last three years has been invited to successful exhibitions at the Albuquerque Museum.
Cynthia has been influenced by admired contemporary and historical masters, but works increasingly through her own style and metaphor.
Cynthia’s collective artworks are represented in a number of public and private collections. She has been invited to and featured in fine art exhibitions and has received several nice competition and community awards.
